G-Tel Engineering
From inception in the late 1990's G-Tel engineering provided support to the civil construction industry through the design of telecommunications network infrastructure for Canada's largest telecommunications companies. The telecom design encompassed both fibre and copper based network topology and has evolved over the years to include fibre transport, FTTN, SSA and ESA Pole line engineering.
In 2002 G-Tel responded to industry demand to provide utility locates for the telecom plant that G-Tel was accustomed to design and that quicikly expanded to include the locating of gas infrastructure for Union Gas on an overflow basis.
By 2005 G-Tel was a full fledged utility locate provider and was successful in its' bid to be the preferred locate service provdier for the LAC - Locate Alliance Consortium that consisted of Bell, Bell Aliant and Union Gas at the time.
G-Tel recognized the value of providing a single locator to locate multiple utility plant and has been actively developing 3rd party contracts that provide all our customer's with economy of scale discounted pricing.
In 2010, G-Tel has been successful in securing a new 3 year contract with the LAC for utility locating and the LAC membership has grown significantly. While we have expended considerable effort on increasing our utility locate customer base, we recognize the necessity of business diversity. Since 2006 G-Tel has developed a variety of utility service offerings to the Gas industry and in 2010 G-Tel was successful in supplying Leak Survey and Corrosion detection services to Union Gas and subsequently to the City of Kitchener.
Going forward G-Tel will continue to develop complimentary utility services that meet specific customer business requirements and provide the opportunity for bundled service offerings and the associated costs savings that these initiatives afford. G-Tel has for example developed private, pre-engineering and SUE engineering services to meet specific Utility engineering and/or Locate business needs in conjunction with tracer wire fault detection, marker post installation and maintenance and GPS data collection that compliment our Utility Pipeline services.
